watched contagion on fri night. wasn't as impactful as i thought it might be. considering the heavy weight cast, i felt like the only people who matched their heavy weight status was matt damon and kate winslet. the rest of them were pretty forgettable. not through any fault of gwenyth paltrow though. cos she died like...minutes into the show. Jude law was kind of out-of-point. all i remember about him is his horrid teeth. so black and dirty. i wonder if its on purpose.
the mass hysteria scenes were played out quite well, but it wasn't real enough to believe. it was pretty isolated. the death scenes were unfeeling. people died like flies in this movie (according to the movie its 26 million), i expected more 'feelings' of any kind. but not really. kate winslet died, just died. i guess if the director was going for numbness of emotions towards death, he probably achieved it with the storyline.
watched country strong last night as well at lulu's. its nice! leighton meester is so beautiful. and so it gwenyth paltrow of course. but leighton meester. she's really beyond gossip girl. totally beyond. i didn't like the ending though. i mean if its country STRONG. why did she choose to commit suicide in the end? its really contradictory to her powerful victorious rendition of the song in her final concert. oh well. but its still nice nonetheless.
